I’m not sure how or when I became infatuated with dragonflies, but they have thoroughly captured my imagination. I was lucky enough to get this shot of a dragonfly perched on an unopened oleander bloom with an open bloom in the background.
There is a small duck pond just a couple of miles from the house. One morning I drove by, and the pond was covered with a beautiful fog. That evening, I set my alarm and got my camera ready in hopes to capture the same moment the next morning. There was no fog that day, but I got this shot instead. Dang.
Oftentimes the photograph I end up taking is much different than the one I had planned. I had been trying for several weeks to get a picture of a camera-shy cardinal in the backyard. On this day, the yard was alive with butterflies, so I took a number of butterfly pictures. This is one of my favorites.
This one reminds me of the ballerina position knows as an arabesque penché.
